Interpreting results from the screening questionnaire
The Refined Food Addiction Questionnaire is based on the American Psychiatric Association (APA) diagnostic criteria for addiction. The APA considers that a yes answer to three or more of the criteria only indicates the possibility of an addiction and is not conclusive. Standard practice for diagnosing addictions is an in-depth interview. For refined food addiction, this in-depth diagnostic interview is under development by the Foundation.
If you think that you may be having a problem with controlling your food in-take, using an unrefined food plan may be beneficial. If you would like help in determining the best way for you to personalize your experience with an unrefined food plan, the Foundation recommends working with the staff at Acorn Food Addiction Treatment. http://www.foodaddiction.com.
